Our ever popular Rainbows groups meet on Tuesday nights during term time in St Andrew’s Church hall.
In terms of Leaders – they remain as Lisa Coleman (Topaz), Lyndsay Harrison (Silver) and Margaret Hubbard (Sapphire). We are please to report that a positive from the closure of 2nd Maghull Rainbows was that we inherited a Leader In Training – Sarah who is a great addition to our team.
Here are some of our highlights from the last twelve months:
Martin Mere Wildlife Park
An educational but fun trip for the Rainbows, who loved the games, free-play and talks from the Staff throughout the day. The weather held up for most of it, as did the good behaviour we expect from our Rainbows.
This was a definite highlight for the Rainbows, who constantly quote it as such when we ask them at their Pot Of Gold Ceremony to call out the things they have enjoyed most about being a Rainbow.
Held at our Guiding House in Shirdley Hill, we recruited the best Quaster Master in the District – Helen Fawcett who always adds an extra dimension to our experience and proves to be an invaluable member of our Sleepover Team.
The Sleepover has already been reported in the Church Magazine, so I won’t go into too much detail other than to say that many happy memories were created for both the Rainbows and the Leaders.
Party time in December
As part of our Festivals Badge, we again enjoyed the BeadyBeady workshop and treated the Rainbows to a Christmas Party, held at MCA.
DISCOs, games and laughter were the order of the night, topped off by a visit from Father Christmas, which surprisingly went down extremely well with the Rainbows!!!
So, another exciting year for St Andrews Rainbows, in which we continued to give extra to the young people in our Community, providing them with a Guiding experience that helps to shape them into good citizens of the future.
