FIRST MAGHULL GUIDES
Thinking about joining Guides? First Maghull guides meet up every Friday during term times at 7:30 until 9, at Maghull Parish Hall. We welcome girls from the ages of 10 to 14. We offer a wide range of life skills; a place to meet new friends and a place to have fun. There are places available, if you are interested please contact Helen Fawcett (Otter) : 0151 526 6214. Come along for a taster evening!
Joining Guides can open many doors for you. Here at First Maghull Guides we offer every Guide an opportunity to help charities. We have helped a wide range of charities: from Bransby Horses to Neo Natal. Our contributions have helped copious amounts of people and animals, and by joining Guides you will be able to take part in this. We also take part in several trips, such as camps to trips to Splash World. However, joining guides can offer you much more, for example a select few can go to Morocco and to Japan. These trips may sound expensive however the months leading to the trips guides do fund raising to make up a percentage of the cost, this makes the trips accessible to everyone.
Duke of Edinburgh Award.
We also offer our guides the chance to complete the Duke of Edinburgh Award once they come of age. We support them and facilitate them as much as we can.
Take A Chance Camp.
One of the camps we went on was Take A Chance with over 250 guides attending. In the 3 days, it lasted the girls took part in a variety of activities that taught them about different cultures, gave them the opportunity to work in teams, gave them the ability to come out of their comfort zones and develop life skills.
In August, the girls went on a camp to Scarsbrick Campsite for a 5-day unit camp. The girls learned team building skills, life skills such as how to cook on an open fire that they have started themselves, how to pitch a tent and most importantly have had an enjoyable time! They teamed up with 5th Maghull Guides which resulted with the girls making new friends.
