16.3.2020

Following on from today’s government announcement, our clergy have received an email saying that the National Church is updating its guidance for churches as quickly as possible. Whilst waiting for that advice, we have been advised to cancel any midweek communion services this week. So there will be no 10.30am service here on Wednesday this week (18th March). Please keep checking on Facebook or the church website for further updates and news / information. And please do continue to pray along with us for this whole crisis – for those already affected directly by it, for those who are scared, for those who are lonely and isolated…

GOOD NEWS FROM DEYES LANE CO-OP

Thank you to everyone who in the past 6 months has supported the Church Car Park Restoration Fund, raising £1442.52 through the Co-op Local Community Fund Scheme, which along with support for the Ist Sefton East Scouts Group, and Carla Lane Animals In Need Melling, reached a grand total of £4358.  Overall the Co-op Scheme raised £9million for local causes across the UK.

By becoming a Co-op Member and purcahsing specific Co-op brands, 5% of your spend is credited to your Members Card to offset against future shopping and 1% goes towards your choice of one of the three Local Community Causes.  To have achieved what we have done so far to make the car park safe, we have been very fortunate in having received two legacies, and financial pledges from St Andrew’s School PTA, Maghull Parish Hall, 1st Sefton East (St Andrew’s) Scouts Group, including donations from St Andrew’s School bucket collections, and from church members, for which we are so grateful.  Please help us to maintain the car park free from litter and treat it with respect.   If you can, please try not to drive over the periphery edges of the tarmac.   With further funding, we can improve the surrounding areas.  The Car Park has also been accepted for a 2nd round of funding from the Co-op Local Community Fund for a further 6 months to end of October.  If you are not a member of the Co-op, then if you are able please do sign up and support our local cause.

Thank You. Geoff Walker on behalf of the Church Council.
