There’s always a lot going on at St Andrew’s…

We offer a warm welcome to our new Team Rector Revd. Janice Hill.

Sunday 5th November marked a new beginning for our team. St Andrew’s was full to celebrate the arrival of our new Team Rector, Revd Janice Hill. The special service was led by Bishop Richard Blackburn and the Archdeacon Pete Spiers,  there were also guests from the local community including the council, schools and other local churches. We joined together to sing hymns, pray together and thank God for Janice’s arrival in our team.

Following the service there was tea and cake in the Parish Hall as members from the different churches enjoyed a time of fellowship together.

Harvest Services

It was lovely to welcome the school into church to celebrate harvest this year. Both infants and juniors gave wonderful performances which were enjoyed by all.

Our Sunday morning Keystone harvest service was also well attended, we shared harvest gifts and made a wool prayer string which stretched right round the church!

Sunday 23rd July

It was lovely to welcome Dr Ruth Hulser to our 10am service this morning. Dr Ruth is our CMS link in Tabora, Tanzania. It was lovely to hear stories about her life and work and to find out how the money we raise at St Andrew’s is used to help the people living there.

After the service we joined together to chat and share food, a lovely opportunity to introduce ourselves and have a bit of a catch up.

GOOD NEWS FROM DEYES LANE CO-OP

Thank you to everyone who in the past 6 months has supported the Church Car Park Restoration Fund, raising £1442.52 through the Co-op Local Community Fund Scheme, which along with support for the Ist Sefton East Scouts Group, and Carla Lane Animals In Need Melling, reached a grand total of £4358.  Overall the Co-op Scheme raised £9million for local causes across the UK.

By becoming a Co-op Member and purcahsing specific Co-op brands, 5% of your spend is credited to your Members Card to offset against future shopping and 1% goes towards your choice of one of the three Local Community Causes.  To have achieved what we have done so far to make the car park safe, we have been very fortunate in having received two legacies, and financial pledges from St Andrew’s School PTA, Maghull Parish Hall, 1st Sefton East (St Andrew’s) Scouts Group, including donations from St Andrew’s School bucket collections, and from church members, for which we are so grateful.  Please help us to maintain the car park free from litter and treat it with respect.   If you can, please try not to drive over the periphery edges of the tarmac.   With further funding, we can improve the surrounding areas.  The Car Park has also been accepted for a 2nd round of funding from the Co-op Local Community Fund for a further 6 months to end of October.  If you are not a member of the Co-op, then if you are able please do sign up and support our local cause.

Thank You. Geoff Walker on behalf of the Church Council.

Thursday 2nd March was World Book Day and our Thursday Lunch group were joined by some of the Year 6 “Lunch Bunch” from St Andrew’s School. They helped to serve the lunch as well as talking to members of the group about the interesting costumes that both they (and the staff) were wearing! Thanks so much for all your help, it is lovely to have this link between the church and the school.
