We offer a warm welcome to our new Team Rector Revd. Janice Hill.

Sunday 5th November marked a new beginning for our team. St Andrew’s was full to celebrate the arrival of our new Team Rector, Revd Janice Hill. The special service was led by Bishop Richard Blackburn and the Archdeacon Pete Spiers,  there were also guests from the local community including the council, schools and other local churches. We joined together to sing hymns, pray together and thank God for Janice’s arrival in our team.

Following the service there was tea and cake in the Parish Hall as members from the different churches enjoyed a time of fellowship together.

Harvest Services

It was lovely to welcome the school into church to celebrate harvest this year. Both infants and juniors gave wonderful performances which were enjoyed by all.

Our Sunday morning Keystone harvest service was also well attended, we shared harvest gifts and made a wool prayer string which stretched right round the church!

Harvest Supper

A great deal of fun was had by all who attended our annual Harvest Supper as they enjoyed food, entertainment and fellowship together. £100 was raised which will go towards our Christingle celebration in December.

Ladies Guild Coffee Morning

A big thank you to everyone who attended, helped out on stalls and purchased goods. A total of £300 was raised at the event.

Sunday 23rd July

It was lovely to welcome Dr Ruth Hulser to our 10am service this morning. Dr Ruth is our CMS link in Tabora, Tanzania. It was lovely to hear stories about her life and work and to find out how the money we raise at St Andrew’s is used to help the people living there.

After the service we joined together to chat and share food, a lovely opportunity to introduce ourselves and have a bit of a catch up.

Rev Nick Wells

Please join with our church family at this time as we hold Rev Nick Wells and his family in our thoughts and prayers. Nick has recently been diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma and is beginning treatment, we are thinking of you Nick and hope that you are feeling better soon.

get well soon

Michaels and Lyn’s Farewell

On Saturday 20th May members of the team gathered together to wish Michael and Lyn well as they prepare to leave Maghull for pastures new. There was lots of lovely food provided by members of the churches and it was a great opportunity for people to come together.

Thank you to everyone who in the past 6 months has supported the Church Car Park Restoration Fund, raising £1442.52 through the Co-op Local Community Fund Scheme, which along with support for the Ist Sefton East Scouts Group, and Carla Lane Animals In Need Melling, reached a grand total of £4358.  Overall the Co-op Scheme raised £9million for local causes across the UK.

By becoming a Co-op Member and purcahsing specific Co-op brands, 5% of your spend is credited to your Members Card to offset against future shopping and 1% goes towards your choice of one of the three Local Community Causes.  To have achieved what we have done so far to make the car park safe, we have been very fortunate in having received two legacies, and financial pledges from St Andrew’s School PTA, Maghull Parish Hall, 1st Sefton East (St Andrew’s) Scouts Group, including donations from St Andrew’s School bucket collections, and from church members, for which we are so grateful.  Please help us to maintain the car park free from litter and treat it with respect.   If you can, please try not to drive over the periphery edges of the tarmac.   With further funding, we can improve the surrounding areas.  The Car Park has also been accepted for a 2nd round of funding from the Co-op Local Community Fund for a further 6 months to end of October.  If you are not a member of the Co-op, then if you are able please do sign up and support our local cause.

Thank You. Geoff Walker on behalf of the Church Council.

Just a quick reminder of the car park before the work was carried out……

and after……

Saturday 15th April saw the return of our annual Bunny Drive. A good time was had by all as we enjoyed the Bunny Drive itself, the raffle, food and short service afterwards. A huge thank you to all who attended and well done to our two winners who are pictured below.

Once we have had PCC approval later in the week we will be sending a cheque off to our chosen charity KIND for a wonderful £118.

Sunday 26th March – we celebrated Mothering Sunday today with a fun Keystone Service for people of all ages. It was lovely that the children who were at the service could give out daffodils to all of the mums and ladies who were in the congragation.

Wednesday 15th March – we welcomed Knowsely Community Choir to the church for their first concert with us. The evening was enjoyed by all who attended. There was a mix of modern music with some audience participation too. The conductor also had a good line in jokes – not!! It was lovely to hear that the choir really enjoyed themselves too and we hope that they will be back to visit us soon.

Thursday 2nd March was World Book Day and our Thursday Lunch group were joined by some of the Year 6 “Lunch Bunch” from St Andrew’s School. They helped to serve the lunch as well as talking to members of the group about the interesting costumes that both they (and the staff) were wearing! Thanks so much for all your help, it is lovely to have this link between the church and the school.

On Saturday 25th February we welcomed Revd Penny Leeman to our church family with a lovely lunch. We look forward to getting to know Penny better over the coming weeks.
